About Eben Alexander, DO, RMSK
Dr. Eben Alexander is a physician with residency training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R), and ACGME-certified fellowship training in interventional pain medicine. During his final year of residency he served as the chief resident. He holds a D.O. from Edward Via College of Osteopathic medicine, personal training license from the American Council on Exercise, and a Corrective Exercise Specialist certificate from the National Academy of Sports Medicine. At OCR, he treats a wide array of various musculoskeletal issues, peripheral nerve syndromes, and a particular focus on back and neck diagnoses. He performs epidural steroid injections, radiofrequency ablations, SI (sacroiliac) joint injections, among many other fluoroscopically (video x-ray) and ultrasound-guided procedures.
During PM&R residency, he had dedicated time to train under fellowship-trained neuromuscular diagnosticians in nerve conduction studies and electromyography (NCS/EMG) to aid in the diagnosis of peripheral nerve disease. He also designed and served as the primary lecturer for a hands-on diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound curriculum for residents and medical students for several years in a row.
His undergraduate foundation in neuroscience and three years’ working experience in the greater Washington D.C. area as a personal trainer catalyzed a fervent interest in the optimization of human performance even in the setting of multiple injuries. He understands the hardship associated with injury, loss of function, altered lifestyle, and is committed to the optimization of quality of life his patients can attain as well as the pursuit of the activities they enjoy.
