Longmont United Hospital announced last week that it has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for Total Hip, Total Knee and Total Shoulder Replacement Certification. The Gold Seal of Approval® is a symbol of quality that reflects an organization’s commitment to providing safe and effective patient care.
LUH underwent a rigorous on-site review in August, during which Joint Commission experts evaluated compliance with national disease-specific care standards as well as with total hip, total knee, and total shoulder replacement-specific requirements.
“We are extremely excited about the Joint Commission certification,” said Timothy J. Pater., M.D., President of Front Range Orthopedics & Spine, whose surgeons are members of the LUH medical staff. “It is a reflection of several years of hard work and successful collaboration between Front Range Orthopedics & Spine and the outstanding staff and administration at Longmont United Hospital.”
Established in 2002 and awarded for a two-year period, The Joint Commission’s Disease-Specific Care Certification evaluates clinical programs across the continuum of care and addresses three core areas:
• Compliance with consensus-based national standards;
• Effective use of evidence-based clinical practice guidelines to manage and optimize care; and
• An organized approach to performance measurement and improvement activities.
“Longmont United Hospital has thoroughly demonstrated a high level of care for patients undergoing total hip, total shoulder, and total knee replacement surgery,” said Wendi J. Roberts, RN, executive director, Certification Programs, The Joint Commission. “We commend Longmont United Hospital for becoming a leader in joint replacement care.”
