Doug Max

After growing up in Sioux City, Iowa, Doug Max attended CSU from 1971-1976. There he enjoyed a successful career as a student and as a hurdler on the Track & Field Team. Between 1971 and 1975 he earned four letters, and in 1972 he missed qualifying for the Olympic Trials by a tenth of a second. During his senior year at CSU, OCR helped Max successfully recover from a disc injury that was keeping him out of competition, and away from meeting his athletic goals. Doug is a celebrated athletic leader, having been inducted into the CSU Hall of Fame for his contributions to the Athletics Department, and having won the “Western Athletic Conference Coach of the Year” eight times during his coaching career.
