Work Related Disorders & Injuries

At the Orthopaedic & Spine Center of the Rockies, our physicians take care of people who have sustained an orthopaedic workplace injury.

We provide orthopaedic services for Colorado, Wyoming, and Nebraska work comp patients, based on a diagnosis and referral from an occupational medicine or other medical clinics. Services for other out-of-state work comp patients are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

The Orthopaedic & Spine Center of the Rockies understands how important it is to quickly treat a workplace injury and get employees back to work. We also understand how to support employers through the worker’s compensation claims process.

What is A Work Related Injury?

We offer comprehensive care for injuries that are orthopaedic in nature — injuries to the bones, joints, muscles, tendons, and ligaments, for example.

Our doctors typically do not determine whether an injury was work-related or sustained in some other way.

That decision is usually made by an occupational medicine or other physician. In rare situations, an OCR physician may be asked to determine how and where an injury occurred, but that does not happen very often.

The OCR physicians have the assistance of the Case Management Department, which provides support for our physicians, injured workers, and their employers so that we provide the very best care in an effective and efficient way. We have case managers at both offices.

Our Orthopaedic Services for Workplace Injury:

  • Non-surgical orthopaedic care
  • Orthopaedic surgery
  • 2nd opinions
  • Podiatry care with orthotic services
  • Diagnostic testing (X-rays, MRI’s, and EMG’s) at our office
  • Rehabilitation therapy (Physical and Occupational Therapy)
  • Fracture & hand clinics, by appointment (casting and DME services)
  • Impairment ratings: 3rd Edition Revised, 4th Edition, 5th Edition
  • Scheduling of legal services
  • Educational workers’ compensation presentations and forums

Impairment ratings are performed for current OCR patients for their orthopaedic conditions or injuries related to work.

Our case managers monitor employees’ recoveries. They help expedite care by evaluating work restrictions, referrals, and surgical requests. They also serve as a vital communication link between our physicians and nurses, and the primary physicians, employers, and work comp insurance companies.
