Jake Sommervold

Jake Sommervold is taking advantage of every minute of retirement. He loves Colorado and gets outside as often as possible. Jake is an avid bow hunter and enjoys spending time with his sons hunting upland birds & big game. When he is not hunting, you can find Jake fishing or playing golf.

Although his knees had been sore and painful, Jake wasn’t going to let that stop him. While on a hunting trip, Jake and his sons hiked to the top of a mountain, where Jake had the hard realization that he couldn’t hike down. With considerable help from his sons, he made it off the mountain and home.

Jake asked around the golf club for knee surgeon recommendations and heard great things about Dr. FitzGibbons. He immediately called for an appointment and was able to get in quickly.  After thoroughly discussing his options with Dr. FitzGibbons, Jake decided to have total knee replacements in both knees simultaneously. “Dr. Fitzgibbons described everything to a “tee.” He didn’t sugar coat it; he talked about the difficulties of getting both knees done at the same time.” Jake knew this was the best decision for him and that his wife and sons would support and care for him as he rehabilitated his knees.

Jake walked on his new knees the day after surgery. He started hitting golf balls 2 ½ months after surgery and even went on golf vacation 3 months after surgery. “Recovery was exactly what Dr. FitzGibbons described. I knew what to expect, and nothing caught me off guard.”

Jake is feeling great and has returned to all the activities he loves. “I think the world of Dr. FitzGibbons and would recommend him to anyone needing knee surgery.” So watch out turkeys and elk! Jake is back!
