About Riley Hale, MD
Dr. Riley Hale is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon whose surgical specialties include anterior hip replacement surgery and trauma-fracture surgery.
Dr. Hale helps patients who need:
- anterior hip replacement, as well as traditional posterior total hip surgery
- knee replacement surgery
- trauma-fracture care and surgery
With anterior hip replacement surgery, the surgeon operates on the hip from the front instead of the side or rear of the joint. This technique allows patients to recover and return to activities and work quickly.
Dr. Hale also performs the traditional posterior approach to hip replacement for those patients who prefer it, or whose needs are better suited to it.
He has experience with a variety of hip, knee, and trauma injuries and conditions. Dr. Hale enjoys helping people of all ages regain their health and ability to engage in their favorite sports or recreational pursuits or return to work.
A Montana native, he obtained his undergraduate degree from Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA (1998). He earned his M.D. degree from the University of Nevada School of Medicine (2005).
Dr. Hale completed his five-year orthopaedic surgery residency program at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN (2005-2010). He has advanced training as an orthopaedic trauma surgeon through a fellowship program at the Florida Orthopaedic Institute-Tampa General Hospital (2010-2011).
During his fellowship, Dr. Hale gained expertise in trauma-fracture surgery. Fellowship programs provide a sixth year of highly specialized training for an orthopaedic surgeon following the completion of the residency program. The additional training gives a surgeon the opportunity to develop in-depth knowledge and skills. Dr. Hale holds board certification through the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
Prior to joining OCR, Dr. Hale worked for another medical group in northern Colorado from 2011-2016. During this practice, he performed hundreds of joint replacement surgeries, including anterior total hips, and helped patients recover fuller use of their hips and knees.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Hale enjoys spending time with his wife Kristin and their two children. His outside interests also include enjoying the outdoors.
