About Robert FitzGibbons, MD
Dr. FitzGibbons was one of the original founders of Front Range Orthopedics & Spine (now OCR). He has been in practice in Boulder County for 30 years. Fellowship-trained in sports medicine, he specializes in the surgical treatment of knee and shoulder disorders.
A native of Chicago, Dr. FitzGibbons earned his medical degree at Loyola Stritch School of Medicine. He completed his orthopedic residency at Northwestern University in Chicago and his fellowship in sports medicine at the Methodist Sports Medicine Center in Indianapolis.
Dr. FitzGibbons has concentrated his practice on the care of problems related to the knee and shoulder with a goal of rapidly returning his patients to sporting activities and/or functional activities of daily living. He also has extensive experience with total knee replacements utilizing robotic technology and surgical techniques in cartilage transplantation.
Dr. FitzGibbons is board certified in orthopedic surgery and has been published in national orthopedic journals. He has been invited to present his findings at national meetings for the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the Arthroscopy Association of North America.
Dr. FitzGibbons is an active participant, spectator, and promoter of all sports. In his spare time, he enjoys skiing, snowboarding, golf, and biking. He has volunteered as a team physician in St. Vrain Valley School District athletics for the past 30 years.
